To mark World Asthma Day, the Bafoussam Regional Hospital is offering free pulmonary consultations. The initiative aims to improve access to respiratory care and raise awareness about the urgent need for anti‑inflammatory inhalers for people living with asthma.
A public health challenge: access to anti‑inflammatory inhalers
This year’s theme highlights the urgent need to ensure access to anti‑inflammatory inhalers for all asthma patients. Health professionals stress that these treatments are essential to control airway inflammation and prevent severe asthma attacks.
In Cameroon, asthma remains underdiagnosed, with limited access to long‑term treatment in many communities.
Free consultations at Bafoussam Regional Hospital
As part of the campaign, the Bafoussam Regional Hospital, located in Kouekong along the Foumbot road, will provide free pulmonary consultations.
The consultations will take place:
- from Monday, May 4 to Wednesday, May 6, 2026
- between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The hospital is also offering:
- up to 50% discounts on spirometry tests
- reduced prices for chest X‑rays
These exams are key for diagnosing and monitoring respiratory diseases, including asthma.
The campaign targets both diagnosed patients and individuals experiencing persistent respiratory symptoms. It reflects broader efforts to strengthen prevention and early detection of asthma in Cameroon’s West Region.
