Regional civil registration training in Bafoussam

A five-day capacity-building workshop is taking place in Bafoussam, bringing together 28 civil registration officers and secretaries.

The participants come from the Menoua, Mifi and Bamboutos divisions of the West Region.

The training focuses on effective implementation of Cameroon’s new civil registration law.

Strengthening compliance with the new legal framework

The workshop aims to improve participants’ understanding of the legal provisions governing civil registration.

Key areas covered include:

  • issuance of compliant civil status certificates;
  • proper record keeping;
  • adherence to new administrative procedures.

The goal is to enhance the reliability and quality of civil registration services at the local level.

A training programme under the Record Project

The initiative is organized by the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development, in collaboration with the National Civil Registration Bureau (Bunec).

It is supported by the French Development Agency (AFD).
The session marks the launch of a broader series of trainings under the Record Project.

Supervision by project officials

The workshop is led by Brice Gabin Kamdem Kouam, Director of Legal Affairs at the ministry.

He is supported by Esther Edima, coordinator of the Record Project, who oversees the technical implementation.
